Vandeventer Black LLP partner, Richard Ottinger, was recently named one of Virginia Lawyers Weekly’ “Leaders in the Law” class of 2020. Also, associate Jennifer L. Eaton was announced as part of the 2020 class of “Up & Coming Lawyers.”
The “Leader in the Law” designation is given to attorneys who demonstrated a commitment to their profession by lobbying changes in the law, impacting Virginia’s justice system, and their involvement in the community. The “Up & Coming Lawyer” recognition is awarded to lawyers across the commonwealth, making their mark within their first ten years of practice.
Richard Ottinger is also a recipient of the Virginia State Bar’s prestigious R. Edwin Burnette Jr. Young Lawyer of the Year award, the Norfolk & Portsmouth Bar Association’s Walter E. Hoffman Community Service Award, and the Virginia Bar Association Young Lawyers Division Sandra P. Thompson Award for outstanding and long-term service. He was selected as one of Hampton Roads’ Top Forty Under Forty by Inside Business magazine and as one of “Virginia’s Legal Elite” Young Lawyers by Virginia Business magazine.
Jennifer Eaton received the Norfolk & Portsmouth Bar Association’s prestigious Walter E. Hoffman Community Service Award to recognize her past and ongoing service to the community. And in 2019, Jenny was honored by her alma mater as the Taylor Reveley Award recipient in recognition of her service, leadership, and qualities as a civil lawyer.
Eaton and Ottinger are experienced litigators in maritime, transportation, intellectual property, and commercial litigation.
