The SAA provides direct advocacy services to victims/survivors of sexual assault. The position provides emergency support, crisis intervention, safety planning, and individual counseling through the voluntary service model; provides support for hotline callers; engages in community outreach and education; partners with other community agencies to provide direct services; and works in collaboration with and serves as a back-up to the other ESCADV advocacy team members to provide 24/7 coverage of services.
The SAA develops and enhances community response to sexual assault through Sexual Assault Response Teams (SART) in Accomack and Northampton Counties, a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Program, and helps develop best practices for law enforcement and judicial response to domestic violence and sexual assault.
